I have an app that is staticly compiled, it is payware, that was compiled on the 2.4.x kernels. Since upgrading to 2.6.x, it crashes every time, it starts to do a dns lookup. If I use the dotted IP then it works okay but this is okay only for static ips.
Are you running nscd on these hosts? We've had a bunch of applications from ISVs that would crash in a similar manner (on linux and solaris) if nscd wasn't running. But would work fine it nscd was running, and was caching host info. -- Mike Marion-Unix SysAdmin/Staff Engineer-http://www.qualcomm.com Beer recipe: free! ~= Source Cold pints: $2 ~= Product Safe rides home, any hour: $25 ~= Technical Support
