Hello Mikael,
You'd think that with the popularity of the speedtouch/speedtouch 330 usb adsl
modems that there'd be better support for these under SuSE 9.2. I've found
that the easiest way to get my 330 going under SuSE 9.2 was to use the
speedtouchconf package from Steve Parker:
http://speedtouchconf.sourceforge.net/
Even with this latest package there are problems with SuSE 9.2, but even so I
was able to go online with it on my first attempt. The problem was that I had
to go through the setup after every boot! However I've modified two of the
files (speedtouch.init and speedtouchconf.sh) and now it installs very easily
and there's no editing to be done. I've contacted Steve Parker about this and
he says he gave me some hints and said that he needs to do some work for the
2.6 Kernel. If you want these two modified files just email me off list.
Basically with speedtouchconf you just need to untar it (and possibly replace
those two files mentioned above), then copy a zip file of the microcode you
need into the same directory (I use rev4fw.zip). Finally just run the bash
file speedtouchconf.sh as root and answer the questions.
You should be able to check your modem's rev by doing a
cat /proc/bus/usb/devices
Here's what I get:
P: Vendor=06b9 ProdID=4061 Rev= 4.00
S: Manufacturer=THOMSON
S: Product=Speed Touch 330
So I have a Rev 4 Speedtouch 330, and it is silver.
