Erik, my apologies, but I am no expert here.
I thought telling you what I did, would help you too. :-(
(I am using a broadband router with an embedded print server function in that
way from my SuSe 9.2 system).

One more thing though :
On my 9.2 system I have installed
* cups
* cups-client
* cups-drivers
* cups-drivers-stp
* cups-libs
* cups-SUSE-ppds-dat

Maybe that is a bit overdone, but one of them might be needed for the correct
configuration like I mentioned to you.
