Erik, my apologies, but I am no expert here.
I thought telling you what I did, would help you too. :-(
(I am using a broadband router with an embedded print server function in that way from my SuSe 9.2 system).

Hi Jan.

There's absolute no reason for apologies. You came here an wanted to help, and this is very fine, and I'm glad you did.
Of course you thought what you thought it would help. Thats the point.

What I have done now is to hook my Deskjet printer on one computer, and my Brother HL-5040 on another computer.
Now to most smart way, but at the present I don't feel for using money for a HP JetDirect printerserver.

One more thing though :
On my 9.2 system I have installed * cups
* cups-client
* cups-drivers
* cups-drivers-stp
* cups-libs
* cups-SUSE-ppds-dat

Maybe that is a bit overdone, but one of them might be needed for the correct configuration like I mentioned to you.

Maybe you are right. But nothing to worry about. It works, and its the intention it should :-)

Cheers,

Cheers, Erik
