I would be looking for a book on Samba from your requirements Samba can provide the file/print sharing, Domain logins/management, and the like. You should be able to find one by reading the preface and make sure they say something to the effect of "this book in inteded for those wanting to move their windows servers to Linux". Also, SuSE has great Commercial server offerings that can replace Exchange even. I haven't played with Enterprise SuSE, but have heard about it. Hope this helps B-) On Thursday 10 February 2005 07:48 am, a.bridge@insightbb.com wrote:
Thank you for the input. I guess my main concern is desktop management and group policy as Microsoft calls it. I am going to look at the Novell Linux Desktop but to be honest with you I don't see our users making the change. Again, Desktop management is my main concern. As far as DHCP, DNS, File and Print sharing...the basic network components go, I feel I have a handle on it. And Webmin is going to turn out to be very helpful I think.
It is worth trying Novells site they have something on migrating from NT running right now. http://www.novell.com/linux/windowstolinux/
I know it is not a book but in combination with one of the box you have it may give you some ideas, also you can ask them for a step by step guide or something like that.
Good luck. George

I have seen several books (ie "Window to Linux" etc...) that cover the topic but would like to get some feed back from those currently taking on this task or have completed this task.
Thanks,
