Hi,
I would need to install SUSE on the following desktops: - PII-333MHz, 192Mb (?) SD-RAM, video S3 Virge 3D 4Mb RAM - PIII-550MHz, 512Mb SD-RAM, video Matrox Millenium 8M RAM
Both computers should be setup mostly for word-processing, e-mailing, browsing and multimedia; but users would prefer working under KDE. The second compi (my own one) could be used as router and/or file-server, or maybe as gaming-machine as well.
I know the system requirements for both SUSE 8.2 and 9.1, but would listen to some subjective opinions, which one would fit better my/our needs, being for machine like these, higher OS speed would be a crucial point.
Thank you, Pelibali
I have a P-II/333 64M RAM +2M video. Under 9.1/KDE it was way too slow, moving the cursor slightly would cause it to take a very long time to settle. Since installing 9.2 with fvwm, it's very responsive. The P-III/550 may give acceptible performance with KDE, but the P-II/333 may be quite slow with KDE which needs big resources.
