When you configured the new Receiving account, did you go to the
"Extras" tab and click the "Check What the Server Supports" button?
This will make sure KMail's server interaction options are consistent
with the server's capabilities.

I don't believe there's anything about "IE" (actually, Outlook or
Outlook Express, I assume) that makes it uniquely acceptable for these
email providers.
