This is not a matter of idle curiosity; I want to make an entry to an fstab file to accommodate a usb floppy drive. I looked at another computer's fstab and found an entry for the floppy drive. I searched man pages under fstab and mount (I could not find other relevant man pages, such as for nodev) found nothing on entries in the last two fields in this fstab entry: /dev/fd0 /media/floppy subfs fs=floppyfss, procuid, nodev, nosuid, sync 0 0 1, what sort of file system is "subfs" and what do the entries mean in the fourth (mount options) field? 2. I expect I should slip noauto in there on the other machine. What should I take from this set of parameters after fs= to the other fstab entry for the temporarilly connected floppy? Thanks for your help dj tuchler
