Nothing, the burner is IDE not scsi. All it says is that it can't find a scsi disk. Here is what I got:
Tux:~ # cdrecord -scanbus ...
The following works here (there are more ways): # cdrecord dev=ATA -scanbus ... scsibus1: 1,0,0 100) 'PLEXTOR ' 'DVDR PX-712A ' '1.03' Removable CD-ROM 1,1,0 101) * ... Anyway, I agree that the situation with removable media is not good. Documentation is missing and the system is not reliable. To make my life easier, I started to use "high" quality drives but even in this case I'm not 100% happy. For instance yesterday, I couldn't get K3b to burn a DVD-R disc (DVD+RW was OK) and I had to use growisofs from the command line. Moreover, one (cheap) DVD-R disc contained a corrupted file ... Perhaps more expensive DVD discs are more reliable, I'll try it later. -- A.M.
