HI Society,
OK, I've got a new problem. I just got a new (cheap, after xmas sale) cd burner. I installed it today, at the same time I did a new bare metal install of SuSE 9.2. Suse set up the burner as "cdrecorder" here is what fstab has in it:
/dev/cdrecorder /media/cdrecorder subfs fs=cdfss,ro,procuid,nosuid,nodev,exec,iocharset=utf 8 0 0
OK, I can read from it fine. BUT the !"""§$! thing will not burn, in fact both xcdroast and k3b does not even see it as a burner. Can some kind soul tell me how to get this to work? I bet it has something to do with that crappy supermount.
/rant on I've used only SuSE since 4.4.1 came out in 1998, and I've never been really unhappy with them until now. But the past two versions are really shit. Simple stuff (like burners) not working, major programs missing from the cds. Hell, did M$ (spit on the ground) buy SuSE? If it keeps up I'm going to look around for something better. /rant off
Thanks,

Jim, May I ask the brand name of the drive? There are some that just don't work right, so it may not be your SuSE that's giving you fits. I/O Magic brands, mitsumi are both very bad with Linux. Of course, cdrom drives are like VHS vcrs, only a few manufacture all of them. regards, Lee -- --- KMail v1.7.2 --- SuSE Linux Pro v9.2 --- Registered Linux User #225206 "Don't let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game!"
