Weird - I just did a fresh install of SuSE 9.2, and
my DVD-RAM burner has disappeared. It's not listed under
CD/DVD devices under yast - I think it's detected at
boot time (but can't swear to it).
Have a carefull look at /var/log/boot.msg to know for sure.
