IDE Controler

Dear friends,
I am faced with a problem. I have to input an additional HD into my
SuSE8.1 Box currently using all available slots of IDE. That is
1 CDROM
1 HD for the Operating System
2 HDs in Raid-1.
The machine is working just fine and everything is going by like a breeze.
My only problem is that I was to input a HD as a spare into my Raid-1
configuration, because the HDs are old and I am afraid that should one of
them fail, I will have to seek another drive in any odd hour of the night.
So by adding a spare, I can worry about a HD failure without having to
find immediately a new HD.
Can you guys help me in telling me any IDE controlers (not SATA) that
are in the market and SuSE8.1 recognizes. At the moment, I have found
some which are possible:
- Adaptec ATA RAID 1200A - AAR
- Q-TEC 340R RAID 133 PCI Card
- Promise Controller ATA100 Raid 2CH
Well all of them supply hardware raid which I will not use as the software raid
that I am employing works just fine!
Anyone using the Q-TEC (which is the cheapest one) ??
I looked at the SuSE Hardware Database, but I couldn't find any information
(I guess I do not know how to use the system well).
Thank you all in advance!
Chris
