Hi all...
I'm using SuSE 9.2 and when I start KDE it does not play the startup sound. Looking into the problem I found that KDE is looking for "EW_Startup_1.wav", but the file is really "EW_Startup_1.ogg". How can I tell KDE to look for the ogg file?
- Launch / open the "Control Center" (KDE Menu) - Expand the "Sound & Multimedia" category - From the "Sound & Multimedia" section select "System Notifications" - Select "KDE System Notifications" from the "Event Source:" pop-up at the top of the right-hand side of the Control Center. - Select "KDE is starting up" from the list below the pop-up - Enable "Play a sound:" in the "Actions" section (if not already enabled) - Either type the full path name of the sound file you want to use or click the folder icon at the right to browse for it. I use "/opt/kde3/share/sounds/KDE_Startup_1.ogg" (and "...Logout_1.ogg"). One think you'll want to be careful about is that if you switch away from the Control Center window while you have, say, the "KDE is starting up" action selected, when you come back to the Control Center window the selection will revert to the first item in the action list ("A critical message is being shown"). If you're not careful, you might end up changing the dispensation for the wrong action.
Thanks!
