Sorry to not have already told you but I did load ndiswrapper and then loaded the windows driver via that utility. It (wlan0) shows up via ifconfig but I cannot seem to get it to use DHCP to get an address. Also, rebooting makes wlan0 go away.
Ah, seeing wlan0 means that the driver does work ! But I suspect that you did not yet configure the wlan0, i.e. setting the mode, the wep-key (if used), the essid, etc. Did you ? For details, see http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2002/11/wavelan.html
After rebooting you must manually restart the whole ndiswrapper thing again. Do have that automated, follow the instructions at the end of : http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/phpwiki/index.php/Installation
The directions wont work on SuSE9.1. You can get it to load on boot by going into /etc/sysconfig/kernel and set: MODULES_LOADED_ON_BOOT="ndiswrapper" or driverloader if you're using the linuxant thing. If you're not using Knemo, then use Yast to insert all the correct info into /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-wlan0 One problem I havent worked out is how to insure dhcpcd wlan0 will always get the wifi card to get its IP everytime. There is still some black magic involved that I havent figured out. Maybe someone else has found the key. HTH, RA
