Have you looked at Krusader?  Although not included with SuSE, it is 
easily obtained through Sourceforge.net.  Someone has even provided a 
SuSE 9.2 rpm for you!

I think it will do what you need.  It's been a favorite of mine for a 
long time and wish SuSE would again provide it with their files.
