Patrick - It turns out that I have three (count 'em) Firefox folders, each with its own 'bookmarks.html" file, and it took a while of mucking around to figure out which is the current one. After lotsa sleuthing, I found the errant folder and all its bookmarks nested deep within another entirely unrelated folder. How it got there is a mystery.
No mistery, when you open firefox and it askes which profile to use and you choose one that is already in use, you have made a new profile. Each of the odd-looking directories under .mozilla/firefox (with the eight random character names) is a separate profile. You can force the profile manager to start (just to see) with: firefox -ProfileManager note: many commands/programs provide helpful information available by using the command structure: firefox --help Try it. -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org HOG # US1244711 Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/photos
