Just updated the kernel to 2.6.8-24.10-default. Rebooted. Ran: make cloneconfig make prepare vmware-config.pl To get VMware Workstation to run (the usual when updating a kernel). Made some changes to VMware's dhcp config file, so I rebooted again. (Easier than trying to remember how to manually stop and start all the vmware stuff...) On bootup, I see in the startup log: Setting up kernel module dependencies (if required)modprobe: FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/2.6.8-24.10-default/modules.dep: No such file or directory modprobe: FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/2.6.8-24.10-default/modules.dep: No such file or directory Hmmm... outside:/lib/modules/2.6.8-24.10-default # ls -al modules.dep -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 285331 2004-12-23 21:17 modules.dep outside:/lib/modules/2.6.8-24.10-default # Sure looks like modules.dep is there. And its timestamp is right about when I updated the kernel. So I reboot again, and this time the bootup log shows: Setting up kernel module dependencies (if required)done Should I be worried? -- _______________________________________________________________ A Message From...
