Need to run alsaconf after ever logout???

I have seen this question asked before and there are lots of repeats in the archive with no solutions. I have a Sound blaster Audigy card. I loose sound when ever i logout. After I log in I can run alsaconf as root and everything works fine until the logout. This only occured in 9.1. No problem with 9.0. Any suggestions? john
