I think that the Linux group should become aware of the following, which is copied from the WA1MBA microwave list. MS has screwed its customers again, bigtime! (See the Bill Seabreeze message.) If any reader has any useful information in this area, I will be happy to forward it to the microwave group. --doug, wa2say

Just tried it out and found that i could no longer open a bacic program.
What
I had to do was "load" gwbasic then "load" the program then "run". Works for me!

If my rainscatter software or anything else that uses net access ceases to function with the upgrade to SP2, this might be a place to look. At least the code still works since the Java VM is separate from the OS :-) The plan is to get do more work on the RainScatter software over Christmas break. I've got some great new ideas to put into action....

Has anyone else noticed that much of the old engineering software, .exe files, compiled Fortran, GW Basic, Pascal, YO7, etc no longer work with Windoze XP SP2? Most of this stuff was OK with Win XP, but it appears that SP2 has obsoleted 20 years of useful software. Quite a blow to RF engineers with useful (old) software utilities!! 73, Bill W3IY
