There is no objective reason to prohibit or even discourage mark-up in
email and on Usenet.
Is it not true that, at least on a Windows box, an html message is a
favorite vehicle for script kiddies to send viruses?
Yes. Therefore if we are in the habit of lecturing windows users not
ready to join us about security its behoves us not to be hypocritical.
If we tell them to avoid text mail for security and privacy reasons then
we should do the same.
Should the windows user ask why text its a chance to teach them.
That's been my approach with my windoze-only wife, who has sometimes e-mailed me with html. She did not even know that her mail client was sending html, did not know what plain text was, did not know that there was a preference, did not know there was a possible issue one way or the other.
