I think most of the comparisons that have been done show there isn't usually much in it.
XP boots pretty quickly, despite enabling absolutely everything along
the way. I don't run Windows at all now, but on any machine I've had
both XP and Linux installed, Linux is slower to boot to a full runlevel
5.
However, I don't mind waiting a few seconds longer for a more flexible
and secure system!
