That was part of my point - I disable everything I don't use in Linux.
Its not so easy to do that in XP, so a lot of unnecessary stuff gets
loaded/started, but its still faster. I don't use KDE because it is just
too slow: I prefer Gnome or Windowmaker - at least we have a choice of
desktops.
I'm certainly no lover of MS but I think it is important that we don't
make invalid criticisms: there's enough of that coming the other way.
