Just curious as after I installed the nvidia driver, I found X was using 
the vesafb still, saying it couldn't find the nvidia driver, I tried 
various alterations of /etc/X11/xorg.conf, but in the end I had to 
generate a new one using "xorgconfig". I got the original working of 
sorts by changing Driver "vesa" to Driver "nvidia" in a few places but 
all the Modes were set to 800x600. May be sax2 would have sorted it, but 
I steer clear of it as it's been quirky in the past.

What does "grep nvidia /var/log/Xorg.0.log" return?.
