I have connected to my OS/2 box two SuSE boxen, v8.2 that I've been using for quite some time, and v9.1 that I'm trying to configure. On the 8.2 box, 'mount -gid0 -uid0 X: 192.168.1.52:/tmp' from OS/2 creates the mount successfully, as umount X: successfully unmounts X:. However, on the 9.1 box, 'mount -gid0 -uid0 X: 192.168.1.90:/tmp' on OS/2 creates an error message: NFSU1003: Drive X: could not be attached to the file system. NFSU1028: Error creating NLM client. 'showexp 192.168.1.90' on OS/2 returns: Export list for 192.168.1.90: /tmp 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0 NAICT, both the 8.2 box and 9.1 box have properly configured nfs, hosts, hosts.allow & hosts.deny, because the 8.2 & 9.1 boxen have no problem mounting & unmounting each other's exports. hosts.deny on both have only one uncommented line "portmap:ALL". 9.1 has a commented line that 8.2 doesn't "#http-rman : ALL EXCEPT LOCAL", which I don't see explained in 'man hosts_access'. "rpcinfo -p 192.168.1.90" returns: On OS/2: "rpcinfo: can't contact portmapper: RPC_SYSTEM_ERROR - RPC_SYSTEMERROR" On 8.2 & 9.1 both: program vers proto port 100000 2 tcp 111 portmapper 100000 2 udp 111 portmapper 100005 1 udp 1018 mountd 100005 2 udp 1018 mountd 100005 1 tcp 1021 mountd 100005 2 tcp 1021 mountd 100003 2 udp 2049 nfs 100003 2 tcp 2049 nfs
From another forum someone suggested the following would provide clues about the above error:
suse8.2# chkconfig nfslock nfslock on suse8.2# rpm -q --whatprovides nfslock no package provides nfslock suse9.1# chkconfig nfslock nfslock: unknown service Anyone know how I can fix this? -- "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..."
