I was disappointed to find that on upgrading from 9.1 to 9.2 on my Gericom Ego laptop (Centrino 1.7G, AMI BIOS) that PROBLEM 1: unless I put "acpi=off" in the boot options, I get a kernel OOPS which results in KDE startup dwelling on the "initializing peripherals" stage for ages and then giving up (initialisation progress window disappearing).
