I installed SLES 9 on a brand new DL320 G2 today (from HP gem within the month). This is a ServerWorks chipset & megaraid IDE. The guy at Novell was nice enough to get me some complimentary phone support despite the fact Suse/Novell doesn't offer install support as RH does. Thanks! Reasonable reps rule! No install phone support is a bad idea, Novell, btw. The install CD would boot into Yast, but after formatting root it would hang with the clock hourglass icon spining. After working on it, we found that the Installation - Safe Install solved the issue. Thus, the system was booting with the kernel params idedma off, acpi off, apm off. The kernel appears to have problem with this controller. Upon post install boot, the system has kept these settings. In speaking with the engineer, I now need to try removing the off statements one by one and see which is having an effect. Or else perhaps the HP drivers will help. I post to get the info out there (in case anyone does a search) and see if anyone has had the same issue, did they determine more specifically the issue? Kevin
