9.2, problem with suspend to ram

hi,
i've just installed suse 9.2 pro on a dell latutude d600.
i have a problem with suspend to ram. it suspends well but cannot resume. when it resumes, i can hear that the cpu has woken up, all led's come on apart from the display. the keyboard also does not come up since pressing caps-lock wont light the caps lock LED.
can someone with a similar laptop advise if they have got suspend to ram working well with suse 9.2?
NB - suspend to disk works fine.. but it takes long to resume :-(
