Okay, after googling and reading this is the answer I came up with:
No, NTFS write is not supported.
/usr/src/linux/Documentation/filesystems/ntfs.txt calls write support "very limited, but safe", implying it is there and it won't destroy your data, but you won't get all the features of an ntfs file system.
