Hi I am using Suse 9.2 professional as NFS server and second machine with Suse 8.2 professional as NFS client. When I try to access files on nfs server everything is ok but after a while I get random permission denied error while reading some file. From this moment I cannot read any file from nfs share, I can read only files I've red before error. I have found that kernel update may solve this problem: 29 Oct 2004 um-host-kernel: The User Mode Linux kernel. RPM um-host-kernel 2.6.8-24.3 (i586) 1445 kB Source-RPM kernel-um-2.6.8-24.3.nosrc.rpm Fix NFS bugs: * Locking on NFS nolock mounts did not work * Fixed a problem in the RPC authentication code that could cause random NFS permissions errors but not for me :( my config: suse92server:/var/log # rpm -q -a | grep kernel kernel-docs-2.6.8-24.3 kernel-source-2.6.8-24.3 kernel-smp-nongpl-2.6.8-24.3 kernel-smp-2.6.8-24.3 kernel-um-2.6.8-24.3 suse92server:/var/log # more /etc/exports /media/cdrom x.x.x.x(ro,no_root_squash,sync) suse92server:/var/log # ps aux | grep portmap nobody 2603 0.0 0.5 1436 524 ?
