Connected to the server and there was a huge list of update patches. (Many megabytes) Some are red, some are blue, and some are black. All have checkmarks next to them to be updated?
The color code explanation is hidden somewhere in that screen, perhaps help, or right click; I am not connected now, so I can not check. The text has a colour code, and the tick boxes another. They are different. If you click on it, and see the download size go down, then it was selected to update. Trick: use the "see already installed and new patches" option, or you will miss a few. Meaning that packages that were already updated, but that have a new update available, will not show, but will update nevertheless. Since for me bandwidth is an issue (modem) I take out some big updates which are not too important for me, or to do at some other time. Pity YOU can not write a list of files to a file, so that I can use wget at my leisure to download manually over some days.
Question is, what am I looking at? Do they all need to be updated ? (excluding, of course packages that I don't need or want)
If you have the bandwidth or time, accept the default. -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
