I am having the same problem with a Compaq 1850R with an integrated NIC. I had originally installed Compaq interface for the NIC and that one wasn't working. A co-worker said he has Linux working on another machine with the same NIC using an Intel EE Pro 100 so I am trying to install that interface, but no matter what I do, it still sees the old interface and then gives the same message as below. So I guess my question would be how do I get it to recognize a new NIC interface???
