Although linux can access the canon scanner, why would you counsel
someone to purchase a scanner from a company who, for the most part,
refuses to support linux? Most Epson and most HP *are* supported and
both cos support linux.
note: canon does provide a few proprietary drivers for a smaill number
of their products (cameras, printers and scanners).
