So, gurus. I had no idea that updating red-carpet would change my kuickshow via the changes in this new package kdegraphics3-imaging. I just upgraded the packages red-carpet offered to me as part of a regular update. I never saw kdegraphics3-imaging until I checked the "available" tab as suggested by Anders. Otherwise I would have never known it exited.
Is this the sort of thing that a relative neophyte to Linux should have known about? Should I have been able to anticipate this? Should I have been able to figure this out on my own?
No, when the packagers change things around it can throw off the best of them. It's very disconcerting and should be kept to a minimum. I only discovered what was going on by downloading the source rpm and looking at the specification file, to see why it wasn't included.
