Hello all!
I have a 9.1 running on a Dual Celeron system. Apparently something is fubar'ed with my system in regards to yast. I cant run yast and X at the same time. It simply hangs the complete system. NOTHING works except to reset it the hard way. So i removed all yast related rpm's and installed apt instead. Then i tried reinstalling it via apt. But it still kills the system I can get the first "overview" page, but as soon as i start any of the modules it just stops. No logs, no network, the sound starts looping (running a xmms session) No keyboard, no mouse, no remote access via ssh. No nothing!
And what more; I cant get the graphical version back after reinstalling yast via apt. I have the ncurses interface up but not graphical (X ) version.
yast2-2.9.60-5 kernel 2.6.5-7.108-smp kdebase3-3.2.1-68.23
What is wrong? Any hints as to where to start looking?

I'll guess that its probably a video card driver conflict or configuration problem because you can't get graphics running reliably. I think the yast issue is a symptom of basic video problems. Do an init 3 and then run sax2 to get a reliable X and graphics set up. You could also run apt from here to get yast updated. Make sure that a SUSEconfig gets run after all updating. Then do an init 5 and see if graphics are more reliable. Stan
