A friend of mine sent me a DVD in DVD-R format that I cannot read. Another disk he sent me is DVD+R and I can read it. Based on the technical info I have found about my DVD drive, I should be able to read them right? Well, I don't seem to be able to.
Some disks just don't like to play in some players. In CD, I find that some factory-made CD's don't work right in my car (Cadillac) player, but almost all home-made CD's play fine. I don't pretend to understand it, but this may have nothing at all to do with the software, or perhaps very subtle variations in the reading software, whether from SuSE or BOSE-- the Caddy CD player. I would expect that DVD's would have similar problems. --doug
