Hello:-)
How can I backup my existing Suse 9.1 laptop distribution and restore it on a different computer? Please be specific. I have tared up each directory except /proc. I would like to now be able to restore these tars on a new computer that is not a laptop. This data is very important from A Sans Class. I cannot loose it. What is the best way? Please suggest a program, procedure, etc. I have only a dvd burner and on 35% disk space left on the drive.

I like DAR (Disk ARchive). It backs up to either a single file or will slice it up to fit any media. I have successfully moved the result from box to box w/o problems, but I've never tried to replace the root file system from a differing box ...only the /home files, which worked well. -- "Yogi" CH Namasté Yoga Studio
