The core plane I have, from the Collins computer,
looks very similar to the one in "Figure 4. Magnetic
core plane".

Incidentally, back in the late '50s, IBM was able to
reduce the cost of core memory to $1 per byte.
There's a good description of the development of core
memory, in the book "IBM's Early Computers".
