I recently bought a newer, go-faster-stripier computer, which I specifically requested have the hard drive partitioned into two pieces so I could easily install Linux. (One side for business, one side for pleasure.) However, attempting to actually install Linux on it has, so far, been a failure. It doesn't seem to get very far before it just freezes up-- right after checking the hard drives, I think. (I can copy down the last several lines of text before it freezes, if that'd be useful.) Even trying to start it in safe mode gets no love. I don't really know what to check-- I'm no computer expert, just someone who appreciates Linux's stability and security-- so hand-holding would be appreciated. I can't get my hands on a copy of 9.1 right at the moment, so suggesting that won't really help. Please help! XP is much nicer than 98, but I'll feel safer with Linux...
