Unless I'm mistaken, you can download to a disk, and install from there, without using a server. Horizan Effect wrote:
James, Thanks for replying.
It looks like the files have to be served thru a ftp server. If it is so, I will have to create a bootable dvd which has a ftp server and serves the files off the dvd!
I am newbie so this looks like huge mountain to climb! perhaps there is some other way?
I would apprecaite if you would email me any links you come across on this topic in future.
Cheers, Fischer

Or if the procedure is complicated (I am a newbie), is there a bit torrent link for such a DVD ISO? > > Thanks but no thanks, I am not interested in warez or illegal downloads of SuSE 9.1 Pro, just the FTP version on DVD if it is OK to do so.
There's nothing to stop you from downloading the files from the ftp site to a DVD and using a boot floppy. Also, I recall reading an article a while ago, about putting a boot floppy image on a CD, to make the CD bootable. I suppose the same thing could be done with a DVD.
