I've seen your thread, but there is no final answer in it. I guess that
there wasn't much off list either. I also searched through 50000+ SLE
messages that are archived on my local disk, but found nothing useful.
There are some that suspect that reiserfs makes problems to nfs. Others
suggest to switch from SuSEfirewall to something else, which I wouldn't
like to do. Also, I don't like the idea to work without personal
firewalls on the two computers, since they are connected to a LAN of
many PCs that I do not trust much.
I don't think it's reiserfs, because my nfs mounting *works* - when I
swich off both firewalls. It definitely has to be fw problem.
On server side, I just need info which ports have to be open in addition
to tcp/udp 111 and 2049. Regarding client side I am very confused,
because I beleive my client's firewall doesn't block anything in
outgoing direction. I did not expect it to interfere with a thing such
as nfs client, but it still does: it is not sufficient to switch off FW
on server. I must switch off both. It's strange. Does nfs or rpc server
connect back to client from some reason?
I still beleive that there must be someone on this list knowing the
solution. I hope this thread won't die before we come to the answer.
Meanwhile, I'll continue experimenting.
