I've a sever installed with SuSE 9.1 and Apache 2.0 and an older server with SuSE 8.1 and Apache 1.3.
The same PDF file on SuSE 8.1 is downloadable and viewable with Internet Explorer, but on SuSE 9.1 gives an error like "is not a PDF file, doesn't start with %PDF...". With Konqeror the file is downloadable and viewable on both servers.
I thought it was an encoding problem and changed the value on the SuSE 9.1 server in /etc/apache2/mod_mime-defaults.conf: AddDefaultCharset from ISO-8859-1 to UTF-8. This didn't work.
Does anybody know the answer to my problem?
Mime-problem. Edit your /etc/apache2/mime-type . You will find a line: 'application/pdf pdf' change this to 'application/x-pdf pdf' . Reload apache. Cheers Andreas H
