Just as Linux was rewritten in C? Either way, UNIX has been around since the 60's, not the 70's. When Linux was first written (I do have a copy of 0.01) I was in 1st grade. Assembler all the way. Linux has been around since 1991. I have a copy of Linus' original announcement message on the Minix newsgroup. BTW: I cowrote an assembler for the Digital Alpha processor for Windows NT which was later moved to Tru64 Unix (it was always intended to be on Tru64 - or Digital nix as it was called then).
