ok I have had Pure-ftp running for 2 or 3 days and yesturday it must have went down. Because when I tyred to access it nothing happened. So i checked the status of it and I got back a message saying ftp unused. I tried to do a restart but it failed. Can any one suggest where I start to to fix this problem. I was thinking about checking the log files but I am not sure where they are located
I don't know pure-ftp, but logs are typically in /var/log, and the config files are likely in /etc somewhere. If I was on your system, this is what I'd do: Find the package name - I'm looking for the rpm that pure-ftp came in rpm -qa | grep -i pure rpm -qa | grep -i ftp Once I know the package name, rpm -ql packagename | less At that point, I'd have enough information to find config files and possibly a log directory (look for folders created in /var/log). While this doesn't directly answer your question, it's hopefully one of those "teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime" things... --Danny, killing time before the end of the day :)
