there are some configs on the linux-in-laptop site for this for the inspiron series, as the two series are not that different "under the hood", have a look there. scsijon At 03:23 PM 11/09/2004, Joseph Brockert wrote:
Looking for some ideas on getting the docking station working will my dell notebook latitude 640 running suse 9.1. I've scanned the archives and can't seem to find anyone that has setup a notebook with a docking station using Profile manager.
I have set up 2 profiles, one default and one for docking station. I have the docking station profile active and the different hardware shows up(Ethernet card, monitor) and I have been able to configure it the Ethernet card to work but I can't get the monitor to any reasonable configuration(NEC MultiSync Fe700), the icons and text are very large and the desktop is larger than the screen. Using the control center/Yast2 /hardware/Graphics card I find the physical size set correctly for the monitor. I've tried different resolutions but just can't reduce the screen size. Another issue is that the notebook screen is also lit with the lid closed.
Am I working in the right area with Profile Manager or should I be looking elsewhere.....joe
