-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Well I wanted to thank everyone for giving all these tricks, but I does seem to be problem with GRUB not being stable as an "MBR" for this drive, even though I know it worked with an earlier version under Redhat. Hardware is my problem. It doesn't seem to be able to consistingly mount or see the partition to mount, and when that happened it couldn't find the files - like something as simple as "messages" - even when I confirmed the files were there using the rescue option. Manually trying to enter the setup really showed it couldn't find some items. I changed to LILO and everything works fine now. I have rebooted 6 or 7 times which was painful, because the system is slow and I don't have a stability problem with booting. I guess it is fixed for this machine.
