The Kmenu option to Switch User is missing. Not sure when it happened, about 3 weeks ago. I've looked in Menu Editor but have not found the "actions"section of the menu.
There was a post in suse-kde about this same problem, but it related to errors in /var/log/messages with problems on that system writing to /var/run/xdmctl/xdmctl. I don't have that error message.
Jim, Make sure the file $KDE_DIR/share/config/kdm/Xservers contains entries to configure additional X sessions; the lines may be there but commented out. Mine looks like that: :0 local@tty1 /usr/X11R6/bin/X -nolisten tcp :0 :1 local@tty2 reserve /usr/X11R6/bin/X -nolisten tcp :1 :2 local@tty3 reserve /usr/X11R6/bin/X -nolisten tcp :2 :3 local@tty4 reserve /usr/X11R6/bin/X -nolisten tcp :3 Also have a look at /etc/X11/xdm/Xservers, where there should be similar entries. The problem posted on the suse-kde list was related to an i/o-error that I experienced on the /var/run/xmdctl directory. This dir must be writable for the server, as its socket files go into it. I discovered that problem becauase kdm was verbose about it in /avr/log/messages.
