Well, after being pleased as a peacock with my success yesterday, I fired up the box this morning and poof, no scanner found. Tried as user, as root, as su - and also as sux, but nope, no scanner. "sane-find-scanner" still gives the same results, that of "Found usb scanner (vendor = 0x04b8, product = 0x0128) at lib:001:002" and "scanimage -L" still reports "no scanners were identified".
So, thought I'd be real smart and reinstall everything piece by piece including the redundant epson frontend "iscan" but no, still no go. [...] It would seem to me at this point that what I'm experiencing is a backend problem. Now to review the 40 or so pages I downloaded today. So stay tuned; "with a little help from my friends" - apologies to the Beattles - I plan on solving this problem. Any "friends" feel free to sing out.

Did you try unplugging and reconnecting the USB plug? I've found that many times with my 1650, that will do the trick in getting it working. Lee -- --- KMail v1.7 --- SuSE Linux Pro v9.1 --- Registered Linux User #225206 Those Who Dance Are Considered Insane, by Those Who Cannot Hear the Music!
