usb network card

My mom has a labtop with windows 98 and she decided to
connect to the internet using cable television. It
happened that she did not had a network card for the
labtop and she used an usb network card. I then
decided to install suse 9.0 which is working fine, but
I do not know how to configure the cable modem using
an usb network card.
Can someone help me?
