I am no pro but I I use Xine because it is usually installed on SuSE/Red Hat by default. Has always worked well and should be Open Source??? My problem as always is getting my damn sound cards to work under Linux. ;-) Go to: http://freshmeat.net/projects/xine Here is the writeup from that link: About: xine is a free multimedia player. It plays back CDs, DVDs, and VCDs. It also decodes multimedia files like AVI, MOV, WMV, and MP3 from local disk drives, and displays multimedia streamed over the Internet. It interprets many of the most common multimedia formats available--and some of the most uncommon formats, too. All those features come in a reusable library (xine-lib) which can easily be embedded in your applications. --------------------------------------------- Jonathan Hughes Technical Support Specialist Goodyear South Africa --------------------------------------------- MCSE / MCP Registered Linux User # 362669 ============================================================================== When my parents finally realised that I was kidnapped, they snapped into action immediately: they rented out my room. -Woody Allen ============================================================================== The information in this e-mail contains confidential and / or proprietary information and is intended solely for the addressee. Can anyone make any recommendations? I'd like to keep it under $250.
