I'm trying to install Mono-develop, but when run configure, I get the following message:

So I installed (as root) what appeared to be the latest version of pkg-config (i.e. 0.9.0).
Everything seemed to go OK, but there are no files in the default installation directory of /usr/local/bin
make insall gives the following output:

Trying to install mono develop after installig pkg-config gives the same error.
Could someone put me right please? Many thanks.

Apologies for following up my own post, but I thought I'd better correct one error and one omission: * the executable pkg-config does now appear in /usr/local/bin, owned by root, group root, permissions 755. My apologies, I was looking for a directory. * I should have said I'm running SuSE Linux 8.2 It's probably also worth mentioning that /usr/local/bin is on the PATH and that `which pkg-config` returns /usr/local/bin/pkg-config as you would expect. Thanks for your patience Peter
